Guerilla Interactive and GI-Edit, a Modular Content Management System and Template Engine

Guerilla Interactive required a Bespoke, Modular CMS to be developed in house and rolled out to several client projects. GI-Edit would form the base of several digital packages to be rolled out on most digital projects. The Modular CMS allowed non-technical authors to manage most aspects of their on-line presence including site copy, image and document management and product management; Building from this baseline feature-set almost every web based project could be easily accommodated.

The project was conceived and the brand created by Roddy Lang and much of the initial development by James Gauld who both worked to keep the core of the system both aesthetically pleasing and usable, whist still being fairly lightweight in design.  The modular expansions to the core included syndication modules, allowing both the publication and collection of RSS and Atom feeds, Product catalogue modules allowing the  management of product catalogues and Payment integration modules along with many others.

The System was build using PHP5 and MySQL over the Buan framework with front end enhancements from CSS and the Prototype Javascript framework.

GI-Edit was also used to build Guerilla’s websites (see GI left), which allowed for new digital and creative projects to be showcased quickly by several authors within the business along with vacancies, contact pages and blog style news articles.

This project was completed on behalf of Guerilla Interactive in 2008 and has  been running successfully since launch.
