The Be Air Aware website was designed and build at Guerilla promoting a campaign for positive change in air quality in Tyne and Wear. Content management and usability were at the forefront of the project so the initial website was built into a WordPress installation.
The concept and design were realised by Rob Palmer, the idea being that the campaign would promote walking to school with a view to reducing the environmental impact of the daily drive to school.
“Walk to the World Cup will involve nearly 10,000 primary school children in 32 schools in North Tyneside and South Tyneside; it will be the biggest inter-school initiative of the year in the region. Schools have been invited to take part because they have shown an interest in increasing walking levels among pupils.”
The header banner shows the distance walked by all schools/groups entered in the scheme, followed by a breakdown of distance walked by each entry. You also ave the option in the hero banner to filter by league. Leagues were introduced to promote regional competition within the scheme.
The Plugin itself allows a non technical user to log in to the system, add leagues and entries to the scheme, manage school logo’s and update the distances walked by each entry in the scheme.
This project was completed on behalf of Guerilla in 2010 and has been running successfully since launch.
